pamphlets. The guidelines appear below.

Iota is delighted to launch the second Iota Shots awards for short poetry pamphlets. Three poets will have their
shorter poetry shots published by Templar Poetry in Spring 2012. The three inaugural shots have been published
and are now available from Templar. Click for further information here
An Iota Shot will be whatever you make it as a poet. It may be a series of sonnets, haiku, a sequence, a single
narrative poem, a mini-epic or a short collection on a theme; it is both an invitation and an opportunity to
produce an innovative short piece of work.
Templar is a publishing house with a fierce commitment to developing new audiences for poetry through its fresh
and unfettered approach to discovering excellent new writers and look forward to reading the submissions.

TEMPLAR, IOTA & SHORT POETRY COLLECTIONS
The Iota Shot shorter poetry pamphlet awards recognise the importance of the poetry pamphlet in publishing new
and innovative work and are in addition to the annual Pamphlet & Collection Awards administered by Templar
Poetry.
Templar Poetry, at its editorial discretion, may occasionally commission a full collection from poets submitting
work to the Iota Shots Awards.
The 2012 Templar Poetry & Collection Awards will continue to offer the publication of the winning authors'
submissions as longer poetry pamphlets and the opportunity to submit a collection for future publication by
Templar Poetry.
Templar Poetry, at its editorial discretion, may occasionally commission a full collection from poets whose work
has been published in the annual anthology which is published alongside the pamphlets which have emerged from
the annual Templar Poetry Pamphlet & Collection Awards.

A General Note on Submission Opportunities and Publishing
Templar Poetry is committed to publishing excellent poetry and to transmitting the poetry we publish to a wide
public audience and we are particularly committed to the development of new audiences and readers of modern
poetry, through a number of ongoing initiatives in partnership with our published poets. We work very hard to
find some of the very best poetry being written today by offering writers a range of open and fair opportunities to
have their work published, ranging from a small portfolio of poems in Iota, poems in our annual anthology our,
pamphlets , both long and short and in full collections. We welcome submissions from both new and established
poets.
During the five years since our foundation many of the poets we publish have been widely recognised in
numerous awards at all levels in the literary poetry community.
Over sixty percent of our first collection poets have been shortlisted in major first collection prizes, one has gone
on to have work included in the GCSE English Literature Curriculum and several of the poets we publish have
won or been placed in major single poem prizes, including the Bridport, National Poetry, Academi Cardiff and
Wigtown Poetry Competitions. Some have been involved in the Forward Prize at various levels from shortlisting
to publication in the Forward Book of Poetry.
Templar Poetry, as a publisher, has also established a reputation for publishing excellent poetry in superbly
designed and printed books. As publishers we have twice been shortlisted in the Michael Marks Awards for
Poetry Pamphlet Publishing and in 2009 Jane Weir's innovative poetic biography of Phyllis Barron and Dorothy
Larcher was shortlisted and Highly Commended in the Literature Category of the prestigious British Book Design
and Production Awards.
We actively seek to widen the audience and readership for the poetry we publish in creative and innovative ways.
Our pamphlets and books are widely distributed and read and we have worked with Oxfam Bookshops across the
country for several years in running live poetry events . In July 2010 we were publishing partners in Oxfam
Bookfest and many of our poets appeared at events in Oxfam Bookshops and Arts Centres hosting Oxfam events
across the country, raising money for Oxfam through the sale of our books, which we also donate on a regular
basis to Oxfam.
